From customized cushions to rehab seats: unlocking the possibilities
In our Embrace Seat solution, we provide a comprehensive package of 3D-printed seats and cushions tailored to meet specific use cases. This article showcases the possibilities that become available when you choose our solution.
Suppose you’re already involved in creating customized seats and upholstery. In that case, you’re likely familiar with the traditional method of carving and gluing together different materials to achieve the perfect fit for each end user. We propose replacing this labor-intensive craftsmanship with additive manufacturing. Let’s explore what you can achieve.
Build the seat or cushion you need
Customized seats and cushions have a broad target audience, ranging from cushions that relieve the gluteal region to wheelchair comfort and full-body support to improve positioning.
The Embrace Seat solution serves as the construction tool for a wide range of customizable seating options that can be defined in our built preparation tool. Let’s examine how you can build your seat or cushion.
Starting with the model of a full seat, we have various regions that can be added as required. Each part can be defined with a range of hardness levels, from extra hard and hard to medium, soft, and extra soft. Via our patented production software, smooth and gradual transition between these zones.
Additionally, if you need to mount the seat, we can incorporate solid parts for screws.
Here are the different components of the seat:
- Cushion: By utilizing a pressure map or designing based on specific parameters, it is easy to incorporate the required hard/soft zones, considering pressure distribution and relief areas.
- Armrest (optional): Located on the sides of the cushion, the armrest can be individually designed for the left and right sides. It can feature a softer feel against the body while maintaining a harder zone for stability and positioning.
- Backrest (optional): The backrest can be customized to support or assist with maintaining a specific posture.
- Body rest (optional): Positioned alongside the backrest, the body rest can be individually designed for the left and right sides. It can have a softer feel against the body and a harder zone for stability and positioning. This feature is handy for advanced position control.
Unlocking a new way of production
Creating custom cushions and rehabilitation seats will always rely on skills and expertise, which cannot be replaced by an intelligent solution alone. By digitizing the process, we offer an opportunity to streamline the manufacturing process and eliminate the messy aspects of traditional craftsmanship.
Additionally, your end-users gain unparalleled comfort from a 3D-printed seat, including washability, enhanced ventilation properties, comfort, and pressure distribution.
